Wilderness Navigation: Learning Map and Compass

Join Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC as we present an introduction to topographic map and compass- your gateway to mastering outdoor navigation!

Learn the essentials of map reading and compass navigation in this 90 minute class. Together we will spend a half an hour in the classroom. There you will learn map components like scale and contour lines, as well as compass parts and techniques such as taking bearings and finding your location on a map. 

We will then spend a full hour with hands-on field instruction. Here we will put theory into practice and help you gain confidence navigating diverse terrain using your map and compass.

Compasses and classroom materials will be provided for use during the course. If you would like a compass to take home, we have them available for purchase. Add one to your cart and we will have it for you at the course. COMPASS
