SUMMARY:Wilderness Navigation: Learning Map and Compass Course
DESCRIPTION:Join Hiking Hound Adventures\, LLC as we present an introduction to topographic map and compass- your gateway to mastering outdoor navigation! \nLearn the essentials of map reading and compass navigation in this 90 minute class. Together we will spend a half an hour in the classroom. There you will learn map components like scale and contour lines\, as well as compass parts and techniques such as taking bearings and finding your location on a map. \nWe will then spend a full hour with hands-on field instruction. Here we will put theory into practice and help you gain confidence navigating diverse terrain using your map and compass. \nJoin us to unlock the skills needed to confidently explore the great outdoors! \nCompasses and classroom materials will be provided for use during the course. If you would like a compass to take home\, we have them available for purchase. Add one to your cart and we will have it for you at the course. COMPASS \n  \n***Recommended age is 12 years and older- Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a paid adult***

During this 45-minute course\, Hiking Hound Adventures\, LLC will be on the trail with little ones and their guardians to tackle some of the most asked questions surrounding taking kids into the woods. Through fun games and hands-on activities\, we’ll cover safety (each child will get a safety whistle)\, choosing the right trail\, packing considerations\, leave no trace\, and more\, all while enjoying the trails and nature between the Willows Park and Skunk Hollow Trails. \nJune 13\, 5:45-6:30 PM – Nature Bingo \nJune 23\, 4:00-4:45 PM – Treasure Hunt \nJuly 11\, 7:00-7:45 PM – Follow the Leader/Simon Says \nJuly 21\, 1:00-1:45 PM – Ice Cream Hike (National Ice Cream Day!) \nLOCATION Skunk Hollow Park & Trails 490 Darby Paoli Rd\, Villanova \nPARTICIPANTS Children ages 3-8 and their parent/guardian* \nREGISTRATION $20 per Child per Hike Register online at www.radnorrecreation.com \n*Children must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
