Conveniently based in the Philadelphia area, we offer a variety of canoeing adventures just a short trip from the city, making it easy for city dwellers and suburban adventurers alike to escape into nature.

Picture yourself paddling down the peaceful waters of John Heinz National Wildlife Refuge, an oasis of calm just outside Philadelphia. As you glide through the tidal marshes of Darby Creek, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the natural beauty of one of the region’s most biodiverse habitats. The refuge is home to over 300 bird species, many of which can be spotted nesting along the creek. Our canoe trips here are more than just a leisurely paddle—they’re an opportunity to connect with nature and experience the wildlife in its most serene form. We even offer birding paddles, where we’ll use binoculars to spot and identify birds, checking off exciting lifer species along the way!

For those looking for a bit more adventure, we also offer canoe excursions along the winding Brandywine Creek. This scenic waterway winds through the countryside, offering stunning views and a relaxing paddle perfect for those looking to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Don’t worry if you’re new to canoeing—our experienced guides are here to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe. We provide all the necessary equipment, and our guides will walk you through the basics of paddling, ensuring you get the most out of your experience.

Canoeing is a perfect family activity, and we welcome participants as young as 8 years old when accompanied by a registered adult. Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC prioritizes safety, comfort, and enjoyment on all our canoe trips, ensuring a memorable experience for paddlers of all ages.
