Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course – Learn to Teach and Practice Sustainable Outdoor Ethics

The Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor Course – Canoe-Based is an immersive, two-day experience combining paddling, camping, and environmental education. Designed for outdoor educators, guides, and nature enthusiasts, this course teaches essential Leave No Trace skills in real-world settings while providing the knowledge needed to certify as a Level 1 Instructor.

Participants will gain hands-on experience in canoeing, island camping, waste management, campsite setup, food storage, and minimizing environmental impact. Through guided practice and reflective exercises, you will learn how to demonstrate and teach Leave No Trace ethics to others, empowering communities to enjoy the outdoors responsibly.

This course includes all necessary paddling gear—canoes, paddles, and life jackets—with optional camping gear rentals to ensure a stress-free experience. Meals are provided throughout the trip, and pre-trip materials and assignments prepare participants for a successful and engaging learning adventure.

By the end of the course, participants will be certified as Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructors, equipped to lead courses, workshops, and community programs while fostering a culture of stewardship and sustainability in the outdoors.
