Why Join Us?

Is fishing equipment provided?

Yes! Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC provides all fishing rods, reels, tackle, bait, and other fishing equipment needed throughout the week.

Personal fishing equipment is not permitted at camp. Please leave all personal fishing rods, reels, tackle, and other fishing gear at home. We provide everything campers need to learn new skills and enjoy their time on the water.

What safety measures are in place during camp?

Safety is our top priority. Our camp is licensed and registered with the Pennsylvania Department of Health, and all staff members at camp meet Pennsylvania Act 153 background clearance requirements. Staff members trained in CPR, First Aid, and AED use and we have a fully stocked first aid kit and an AED on site at all times.

Campers will spend time fishing along the shoreline and may wade in shallow water. Swimming is not permitted, and campers may not enter the water past their knees. All participants are expected to follow staff instructions and stay with their group.

What should my child bring, and will they get wet?

Please send your child with a refillable water bottle, lunch, snacks, weather-appropriate clothing, and sturdy, closed-toe shoes that can get wet and dirty. Crocs or similar sturdy, water-friendly shoes are recommended. Shoes are expected to get wet, so please do not send footwear that cannot get wet. Apply sunscreen and insect repellent before arrival each morning.

Camp takes place entirely outdoors, and campers should be prepared for sun, insects, mud, uneven terrain, and changing weather. Campers will spend time fishing along the shoreline and may wade in shallow water up to their knees under staff supervision. Swimming is not permitted.

All fishing equipment is provided. Personal fishing rods, reels, tackle, and other fishing gear are not permitted at camp.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?

Camp takes place 100% outdoors, and we plan to enjoy the outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. However, camper and staff safety always comes first. We closely monitor weather conditions and may modify activities, delay camp, dismiss early, or cancel if hazardous conditions develop, including severe thunderstorms, lightning, high winds, air quality, or extreme heat.

If a schedule change is necessary, families will be notified by text message and email as early as possible. Refunds are not provided for weather-related changes or other circumstances outside of our control.

What ages can attend camp, and does my child need fishing experience?

Kids Fishing Camp is designed for children ages 8–12. Campers must be at least 8 years old by the start of camp. We are unable to accommodate children under age 8.

Our camp is structured to help participants develop fishing skills, build confidence, and enjoy learning alongside their peers. The age requirement helps us provide activities that are appropriate for the group and ensure our instructors can give campers the guidance and attention they need to have a positive experience.

No prior fishing experience is necessary! Whether your child is picking up a fishing rod for the first time or already enjoys fishing, they’ll have opportunities to learn new techniques and build skills through hands-on instruction and time on the water.
