Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC Expands Mission to Make Nature Accessible for All

Delaware County, PA – Hiking Hound Adventures LLC, a woman-owned, family-operated outdoor education and recreation business based in Delaware County, is proud to announce new initiatives that bring the proven benefits of time in nature to more people in the community. Research shows that time outdoors can improve mood, concentration, and physical health, and Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC is committed to making these benefits widely available.

Founded by Megan Hood, MBA, MSPAS, PA-C, a Pediatric Physician Associate and outdoor educator, Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC was created to combine her passion for health with the restorative power of nature. Megan is a Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor and a Wilderness First Aid Instructor, and she also volunteers with the Prescribe Outside initiative, a program in partnership with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) that provides free events promoting wellness through time spent outdoors. Through her leadership, Hiking Hound Adventures offers guided hikes, outdoor skills workshops, and family-friendly programs that help people build confidence, wellness, and stronger connections with the outdoors.

Together, Megan and Andy Hood lead Hiking Hound Adventures, LLC as a team, combining their complementary skills and shared passion for outdoor wellness. Andy, who holds a B.S. in Forestry, is a Leave No Trace Level II Instructor, Wilderness First Responder, and certified Pennsylvania fishing guide. He also serves on the Delaware County Parks and Recreation Board and the Eastern Pennsylvania Alliance of Climbers Board, where he advocates for expanding outdoor access and promoting responsible recreation.

Building on their shared vision, Megan and Andy have also founded a nonprofit organization, The Abby Outdoor Initiative, Inc. to expand their reach and provide low to no cost options. This new effort focuses on equity and inclusion, ensuring that everyone, regardless of financial situation, can share in the benefits of nature.

“Everyone deserves the chance to experience the outdoors,” said founder Megan Hood. “By combining our business with our nonprofit mission, we are working to make nature a resource for health, joy, and connection that is available to all.”
