Community Partnership Program

We proudly partner with local municipalities to offer a variety of outdoor education programs tailored to the needs of each community. By utilizing nearby green spaces, we help residents connect with nature while learning essential outdoor skills in a fun and accessible way.

Little Tykes Go on Hikes

This 45-minute course is designed for children (ages 3-12) and their guardians, addressing common concerns about hiking with kids. Through engaging games and hands-on activities, participants learn about outdoor safety, trail selection, packing essentials, and Leave No Trace principles.
Ages: 3-12 (children under 3 free with another registered child, all participants must be accompanied by an adult)

Wilderness Navigation

Learn the basics of map reading and compass navigation in this 90-minute class. The session includes a 30-minute classroom introduction followed by 60 minutes of hands-on field instruction. This course builds the skills needed to confidently explore the outdoors using topographic maps and a compass.
Ages: 12+ (under 18 must be registered and  accompanied by a registered adult)

Introduction to Backpacking

Join us for a free, informative session on backpacking basics. This class covers everything from selecting gear and packing efficiently to planning your route and following Leave No Trace principles. Perfect for newcomers or those looking to refresh their backpacking skills.

Backcountry Gourmet: Wilderness Cooking

This immersive experience teaches you how to prepare a complete three-course meal in the backcountry. Learn about camp kitchen safety, dehydrating food, and effective cooking techniques using outdoor stoves. Explore how to balance nutrition and flavor while adhering to Leave No Trace principles.
Ages: 12+ (under 18 must be registered and  accompanied by a registered adult)

Backpacking Fundamentals

Ideal for beginners, this two-hour course focuses on the essential skills needed for wilderness backpacking. Topics include campsite setup, water filtration, food storage, hygiene, and Leave No Trace practices. Walk away with the confidence to start planning your own backpacking trips.
Ages: 12+ (under 18 must be registered and  accompanied by a registered adult)

Backpacking Fundamentals Series and Campout
This series consists of two classroom sessions and an overnight campout. Participants must register for the full series and there are no refunds after the start of the series. The full series price is $65 per person. Camping gear is available to rent at a discount on a first-come, first-served basis. Recommended ages are 12 or older, though all ages are welcome. Participants under 18 must be registered and accompanied by a registered guardian.

  • Part 1: June 3rd – 6pm
  • Part 2: June 17th – 6pm
  • Campout: June 28th – 5pm thru June 29th – 8am

Schuylkill River Paddle Trips
Join us for a relaxing two-hour float along the Schuylkill River. Paddle through scenic waters with a guided trip designed for adventurers of all skill levels.
Ages: 12+ (under 18 must be registered and  accompanied by a registered adult)

Dates:

  • Canoe Trip: June 29th – Noon
  • Paddleboard Trip: August 10th – 5pm
